Good morning dear readers,
Today I want to talk to you about my first Cross Stitch Pattern release for this year. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen it drop last week but if not, below are the detail.
The pattern is called Christmas Cat. I know it is still August and way to early to be thinking Christmas, but cross stitch is also a very time consuming hobby and to finish a project in time for the festivities, one must start working on it as early as perhaps late August or early September. This heavily depends on the stitching time that one is willing/can allocate to that particular project and the list of projects on the to do list!
Without any further ado, below is a mock up of my Christmas Cat:
Design Details:
Suggested fabric: 18 count aida or equivalent count in evenweave. White or Ecru would make a nice background.
Stitch Count: 139 stitches wide by 178 stiches high
Floss count: 28 different colours
Size: this heavily depends on the fabric count of your choice. The higher the count, the smaller the finished picture.
This cute cat features a Santa Claus hat and and a red collar and is speckled with snow flakes and is perfect for a cushion cover or a picture frame to decorate with during the Christmas season. Given that this one has a high stitch count, it will take some time to finish hence this early release. Also I have made the pattern in such a way that it can be read by Pattern Maker which you can get HERE and is indispensable to work with large patterns. One word of caution though, the symbols are not automatically attributed to the key, hence you will need to input them manually into the app. This may be a little time consuming but it is quite easy to do.
As for executing the pattern, I would attempt to stitch it using 1 thread of floss and making full crosses 1 over 1 on a 28 count evenweave. (this is the sytem I used when I stitched Sihtric as the pattern came out huge and I needed to scale it down. Working 1 over 1 reduces the size by half!). For fabric size requirements I always use the calculator provided by Yarn Tree. You can input the fabric count and the stitch count and decide how much finishing allowance you want on either edge of the project and then it calculates the exact size of the fabric piece that is required.
I will be listing this pattern in the Cross Stitch Corner page with details of purchase so be sure to check it out. The page contains all the patterns so far and if a pattern does not have a price tag and you want to get your hands on a copy, all you need to do is drop me a message and I will do my best to oblige.
Till the next time ๐
